紐約洋基隊為了佈局未來數個球季的球隊競爭力，今年冬天欲在自由市場上砸下3億美元的重金投資，可望一方面留住看板球星坎諾(Robinson Cano)，另一方面簽下日籍投手田中將大(Masahiro Tanaka)。同時，他們預計將在妥善的薪資規劃下，維持2014年度團隊薪資不超過1億8900萬美元的奢侈稅門檻，完成老闆史坦布瑞納(Hal Steinbrenner)的期待。
