小琉球潮間帶因受到近年龐大遊客人潮影響，導致生態嚴重破壞，當地民眾自發性的發起保育行動，規定12月至3月為休養生息期，成效頗彰，目前已進入4個月的休養復育期，並預計在明年4月重新開放。
